According the ancient Egyptians, merkaba is believed to be the "light spirit body" (Mer = Light, Ka = Spirit and Ba = Body). The merkaba also comprises two tetrahedrons, the structure of which is the first and most stable of the Platonic solids that lends spiritual signficance to its stability and staying power. In this shape, the top tetrahedron is thought to represent the masculine force while the lower the feminine and this analogy extends to apply to cosmos : earth, spiritual : physical, light : dark. These forces also alway spin in opposite directions sustaining harmony and balance and creating the "chariot" or vehicle of light that can carry the body and spirit into higher consciousness.
